Don't mix meds. Can kill a betta. One or the other is good

So should I stop the erythromycin and start on maracyn plus?

I would. It's a gamble either way, but Maracyn Plus has a better chance of working and since you say your betta is getting worse despite the erythromycin I would try something else. 2 weeks on a med he should be a lot better if not fully healed.

I problem with Dropsy is that is not an actual disease on its own, but rather a symptom of something else. There are multiple things that can cause the bloating and scale raising that is known as Dropsy, including internal bacterial infections, protozoan infections, and organ failure. If he has no responded to anti-biotics yet then it is likely not a bacterial infection, and if it's not a bacterial infection then there is honestly nothing that can be done.

It depends on the type of bacteria and how resistant it is to the meds that are being used. I've seen tons of cases of dropsy not respond to erythromyacin and then turn around and respond to another. I've honestly never seen a bacterial case not respond to Maracyn Plus, though I'm sure it could happen.

He is still eating and swimming around so I will not be giving up on him yet. I will pick up some Maracyn plus/ Kanaplex today and switch him to that... In the meantime I will continue with 100% and 50% water changes with Epsom salt.
