Beard Problems

So, for the past week I have noticed that one of my boys beard isn't coming out on one side anymore. At first I thought that he had somehow managed to damage it but as it turns out, it's actually folded back and stuck behind his gills on the inside. He still brings that one side out so it looks like a normal flare but, only one side of his bead comes out because the other is stuck. Do you think I should try to gently pull it out? Or should I just leave it as it is? I've never had anything like this happen before so I'm not sure what I should do.
I will try and get a picture of it tomorrow, when there is better lighting.

Leave it as it is, since you might hurt him further if you attempt to pull it out. If it looks like he's injured it, a little bit of aquarium salt and Black Water Extract or Indian Almond Leaf wouldn't hurt. One of my bettas has the same condition, only he's been like that from day one and he's doing wonderfully with only half his beard.
