Shipping bettas in winter - heat packs

I'm getting a betta who will be shipped here from Thailand to my transhipper in Georgia. He will be shipped after new years. The weather in Thailand right now is 91 degrees but in Georgia it goes down to 20's and 30's overnight. How does this work with the heat pack?

If you put a heat pack in with the betta in 91 degrees it would kill it right? But then what happens when it gets to Georgia the next day in 20 degree weather?

I've had quite a few bettas shipped to me before, but always in warm weather.

No need for a heat pack from Thailand :) Your trans shipper should re-package your betta anyway, replacing the water and oxygen to ensure healthy arrival. With the re-packaging, he should include a heat pack (I would email him to make sure this is the case).

I just received two wild bettas from Thailand and the trans shipper I used was marvelous, she took excellent care with the fish and it saved their lives when there was a delay that left them at the post office over the weekend (upping their travel time in a box to over a week).

Yes she will repackage the betta and put a heat pack in with him from Georgia to here. How do they stay warm coming in the big shipment to the US though?

Good question, I'm honestly not sure. My shipped bettas very healthy and alert upon arrival so I don't think they ever got too cold. Even if there is a dip in temperature, the box should be insulated well enough that it doesn't get too terribly cold.
