When you use nutrient rich soil...you shouldn't need any added ferts or inject CO2...NPT are intended to be low tech.....
IMO-that is the beauty of the soil based systems...Once mature, balanced and thriving-they are as close to a natural ecosystem that can be created in a closed system-They are still a closed system and need some care...but very little IME....

Bio Load is only relevent to what and how many times you feed the fish. So saying one fish has a smaller bio load than an other is incorrect.
