okay so background: newer betta owner. He lives in a 5 gallon tank, but I have a logistical problem when it comes to cleaning, stair cases and tanks full of water and what not. lol
So after the holidays I want to cycle my tank. but I just want to make sure Im doing it right. dont want to hurt my little friend :(.
so since its the only tank I have I think I have to do a fish in cycle. or else he will have to live in his little fish bowl (about a quarter or half gallon).
So as far as I can see, I just need a light filter with a sponge, and test the water regularly and make small water changes when certain things get too high, and once the cycle is complete, just do 50% water changes weekly, and vacuum the gravel. I read the stickies, and will refer to them for the exact ppm that I need to change the water at. just havent memorized them yet.
anyone have tips/suggestions or see I'm doing something wrong??
