Ahh alright :) Some things sedation is needed, but since I have never dealt with this peculiar problem, I was unsure lol. Since it is mostly through his gill, I would pull it through that. Problem is that he is very panicky right now, and the slightest movement sends him dashing off. All else fails I use the soft net to hold him still.

I still cannot believe the terd tried to eat a plant xD He won't eat, though, so removing it would be best for the fry lol. Silly thing...

Got it out. Dang, is that hard. The fry was actually calm enough he stayed put as I grasped the moss with the tweezers. Then once he felt me gently pulling he tried to pull away (more helpful then anything ). Had to give it four go's, before it came loose. The last time I had to almost lift the poor fella out of the water. That is some stubborn moss! It gave way and now the fella can start healing. His gill is a tad inflamed (I don't blame it), and now he is more lively due to the lack of discomfort.

He even paused to give his dad's "Oooooo" face

Fish are like children. They get into everything. Even the safe stuff.

Btw, what are you feeding the hungry one? Your little one probably tried to eat a snail, but got a mouthful of moss instead.

My hungriest fry will swallow WHOLE snails because he's too lazy to pull them out of the shell. I'm pretty sure FF eats at least one a day.

I recall back when this same fish was 1.5cm & he had something lodged in his throat for HOURS. Most likely a snail too. Absolutely nothing I could do but he managed to gulp it down eventually.

You don't get this kind of entertainment from guppies, live bearers, tetras, cories, etc....

Bettas are so much more fun.
