I see, thanks for the info! I had read about people growing HC pretty nicely albeit slowly in low tech dirted tanks. I'll have to give it a little time and see how it goes. I do have access to liquid carbon. :D

If it does die off I will probably go for some sort of grassy plant. :)

I'm reading that you should dry start the HC. To have it establish in your tank before filling. a 10 gallonis rather deep, but I hope it works out for you :)

Aokashi, do you have experience with DIY CO2? the yeast and sugar in a bottle method. I have the things to do that on hand right now but I need a few more opinions on it. :D

it's not too hard. you do need a decent diffuser, and I also recommend running the tube into a second bottle to prevent yeast getting into the water.

You should try to run two bottles at the same time. start one about a week after the first so you can alternate.

once you have that you need a much higher lighting and also fertilization :3 gl!

here's a good place for tanks
http://www.bvrgelements.com/category/Tank/

see if you can grab a flood light from ebay (20w cool white) those work pretty well. you will need to hookit up to your own cord and probably sit it on a transparent cover, or suspend it somehow.
