how do you cure fin rot?

Hello guys,
two of my bettas have fin rot, one of which I got today. their water temp reads 76 degrees farenheit, should I do AQ salt too? is there anything else?

the best treatment is warm clean water, I'd bump the temp up to around 78-82 and frequent water changes.

You could add AQ salt if you feel like it's necessary, 1 tsp/gallon for 10 days. With water changes every day, only replacing the amount of salt you removed with the change.

He needs to be warmed up a bit.. 78/79 is better.. is that all your heater will do?

Clean water is key. What size tank are they in?

AQ at 1 tsp per gallon predissolved for up to 10 days will clear up any infection. Once you see the tail stop dissolving and actually see a little regrowth you know you're headed in the right direction. Stress Coat at 1 ML per 1 Gallon will also help with fin regrowth.

for Peach, It's not actually dissolving at all. it's just got a gray streak on it. is that even fin rot? I'll post pics as soon as I get home. thanks for the quick response BTW. :)

no, no. It looks nothing like that. it's not crinkly or anything, it just looks like a grayish streak. It's quite difficult to explain. I am an my grandma's right now, but I'll post pics as soon as I get home. thanks Callistra :)

also, they're in kritter keepers, the capacity of the tanks is not quite two gallons. I just did 100% water changes today. also, Peach's tank was overrun by algae before I put him in the kritter keeper. there was a bit of fuzz on his caudal fin several days ago, but the next time I went up it looked like he had chewed it off. (this was when he was in his 10g) it has not come back since, and he has not bitten his tail any more. I keep the water in his kritter keeper very clean.

Okay, I'm almost positive that Pi has fin rot on the edges of her fins.

I'm not so sure about Peach though, when I first made this thread, I thought these bits of fin might be it(BTW, sorry for the poor quality of this photo):

But now I'm not so sure. I have not witnessed any fin dissolving/falling off, and these places on the fin are looking pretty natural to me. when light is shone on the grayish parts, it looks more blue:

What do you think?
also, some more treatment advice is helpful for Pi.
