This is the story of my first betta. He is still alive and hope he is not the last! lol
So first, I went to this Halloween party with my friend. We weren't even thinking about fish. So, all of a sudden, I see these jars with several goldfish in each. There were 3 balls. If you get a ball in the jar, you win a goldfish. I got one pretty quickly. However, my mom made me refuse it. We didn't have a bowl, much less a tank, no gravel, nothing, zip, zero. However, she promised me she would get me a little goldfish in a bowl on the weekend, when we could get the supplies beforehand. (I knew practically nothing about fish at the time, so I happily agreed.) Of course, I did research, and of course... I found out goldfish couldn't be kept in bowls. So I find out that bettas can (this was a week before I joined this site) live in bowls. So, that Saturday I went to PETCO, eager to find out if they had any bettas. Holey cow, they did! About 30 of them! I narrowed it down to three beautiful mates. One was a double tail, and two were crowntails. All three looked healthy. The double tail had beautiful colors, read and blue and black, and he is the Alpha that is much-loved by our family. (Well, my mom and I. I'm not sure about my dad.)
