Hey everyone,

Guess what! I bought another betta yesterday, I bought a halfmoon because although I love all bettas I especially love the perfect D shape of the halfmoons caudal fin. Despite this however I always manage to bring home one with tattered fins, anyhow he is a butterfly with a deep royal blue body and is very pretty. I will post some pics as soon as I take some. I need to name him too.

There were quite a few sick bettas where I got him. A few had fin rott and one had velvet. My boys tail is very tattered, does anyone have any tips on getting good fin regrowth?

When my girl jumped out of her tank and damaged her fins and tail, she developed a touch of fin rot. I just kept her water super clean and warm, and it grew back nicely - so nicely in fact, that when it was fully healed, I discovered she was a veiltail (her fins and tail were quite small when I got her and she was actually labeled as a dragonscale plakat male).

great to hear your bettas fins grew back so nicely, I have had bettas in the past with finrott (they had it when I bought them) but despite keeping their water extra clean their fins never repaired and were left with tiny stumps anyhow my boy is in nice clean water so hopefully that will help

You could do an aquarium salt treatment to help speed up the growth.

Salt helps the growth of fins? Also I am unsure but I think he might have flukes and read that salt can help?

Okay forget the bit about salt helping with flukes, flukes are hard to kill and salt won't so it, luckily I have some fluke medication in the fish cupboard
