How often do you perform a water change? was going to be every day
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? will be 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Water conditioner and AQ salt (3 tsp per gal)

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? He has been very clamped the last week and had for a few days been acnhored to the ground and didn't move much. He also had fuzz on his tail which I began treating for. As of the last 10 minutes, he becameVERY round and his scales are slightly raised.
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? He's become very lethargic
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Today

Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Yes, he is in a QT tank with 3 tsp of salt.
Does your fish have any history of being ill? Not that I can recall.
How old is your fish (approximately)? I've had him for 4 months and he was full grown when I got him

Hey there,

I am afraid your fish sounds like he has dropsy..... His body in the photo appears pale in places and his raised scales is a typical sign of the disease, also fin rott can sometimes also occur along with the dropsy. I am so sorry but very few bettas survive dropsy. Not a lot you can really do for him except keep him as comfortable and stress free as possible and his water needs to be kept very clean. Goodluck and keep us posted on your poor boys condition. Once the scales are raised the disease has usually progressed too far but you never know where there is life there is hope, at least that is the motto I live by. Dropsy is every betta owners worst nightmare

He may be a little bloated though.. I can't tell if it's the angle of the photo or not.. maybe you can see the raised scales from another angle too.. What color is his poop? For bloat you want epsom salts - pure magnesium sulfate per the ingredients label with no additives. Predissolve 1 tsp per gallon.. so like 1 3/4 tsp for you - it in some of the tank water and slowly add this over the course of an hour. ES is like AQ in that it does not evaporate, and only gets removed with water changes so it will also need to be replaced with water changes.

From there he may also need antibiotics.. but we'll await your response.
