Exclamation What is columnaris and what is the signs?

Just wondering if it may be the disease that's affecting my fries.
The fries will act tired, stays at a corner and only swims up for air. They have no other symptoms other than that.
One have some visible blood veins or blood on the back(near the dorsal fin).

I've seen columnaris in a friend's tank, on tropical fish but never on a betta. it looks like white slimy patches on the fish and they are usually breathing very rapidly. They usually die within a day or two. Blood in the veins sounds more like septecimia maybe? Did you check your water parameters?

Fry fish are more sensitive and require extra special care. More info would be helpful: http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php?t=49233 Lethargy can be a sign of almost anything. Columnaris looks like a fungal infection.. fuzzy patches.

The fries live in a 1 gallon jar.The temperatures is 80-82 F.
They get 100% water changes everyday with dechlorinated water.
They are fed blood worms every 2 or 3 days with pellets every other day.
My largest fry has some yellow fuzzy thing on the back too.But he died yesterday.

i am not a breeder at all but from what i've read i think the fry need to be in a larger tank, a "grow out tank" , i think a small jar like that can stunt their growth. And then when they get old enough to pick on each other they can go into individual jars by themselves. I'd check it out just to be sure.

love your quote at the bottom!
