Greetings to all new Labyrinth lovers

For all you new betta keepers, what is a labyrinth ? First things First: What kind of fish are labyrinths ? Well, they do have indeed a labyrinth. A labyrinth is a complicatedly constructed bone lamella which is the extension of the first gill branch's upper end. The lamella lies in a cave above the gill cover. With the help of the labyrinth the fish are able to breathe atmospheric air. ( Typical brood caring of labyrinths) The foam nesting. The male takes air at the surface, wraps it in a mouth secretion and releases it in form of small bubbles. Do to the secretion , the bubbles do not burst on the surface but stick together, so that , after a while, a whole 'bubble'(or foam) nest is produced. Under this nest , the fish spawn, then spit the eggs into the nest and later take care of eggs and larvae untill the young are independent. The brood caring is usually done by the male, while the female protects the territory. In youre tank, and inless you are breeder stat, you will take the female out of the tank after she has a few rounds of releasing eggs.
Next i will speak a little on mouth brooding, can any of you new fish lovers tell me a little about the topic of mouth brooding.

the male mate of the fish will usually catch the eggs in his pectoral fins, fertilize them then place them in his mouth.
