Ok so I got betafix and the cheapest filter (which has more than enough current)

I added betafix. Can I still add liquid with 8 tsp of epsom salt for the 8ish gallon tank?

Also the current is strong. On one side of the aquarium it isnt relevant but on one side it can physically push the fish far. However, he seems to enjoy it, and keeps going back to get washed by the current. What's up with this? I have a video included, you can see if its just fun, him having fun but not in a way beneficial to him, or something that is just bad. I can definitely hook something up to lessen air flow or water extake

I'm sure adding a bit more water would slow the flow

Also I got a plant to add. I'm not sure how long it will last but it should temporarily help while the beta log comes in and I decide how I am going to permanently have living foliage in the aquarium.

Bettafix won't do anything for him. It also contains an ingredient tea tree oil which can coat their labyrinth organ and cause them to suffocate. Sorry. You need epsom salts an an antibiotic.

What filter did you buy? Looks like a tetra whisper.. what model? It looks large for a 10 gallon.. I would put the heater next to it so that the flow can keep the water circulated.

I'm not sure he's really enjoying it so much as not knowing what to do with it. He's really being tossed around by that. It appears much too strong for him. I would most definitely baffle it, or maybe even get a different one. Is there a way to turn the flow down? If so, turn it all the way down. Also, the intake tube in the tank can catch his fins and him in it if you're not careful. That is the unit. I got the 10. The temperature stabilized. I had it turned off. I'll figure out some way to reduce the flow.

Okay yeah get a prefilter sponge.. or even a block of sponge and use some scisssors to snip down the center (but not all the way through) and stick that over the intake tube. Also take a hair tie or rubber band and band another block of sponge on the outflow (as shown) that should do it.

Got the filter sponge fixer, betta log, kanaplex, and java moss ordered. Considering another plant. He's happy. Temperature is around 78-80, trying to stabilize fully at 80, my lights I'll be using for the plants should do that. The heater is always just barely making 80F, or a little less. The circulation from when I have the prefilter might also do it.
I made a plastic thing to cover the water filter and reduce wayer output force/displace it, and I run it for about 10-15 minutes total a day with the cover which has much less water output, but still not enough. It will be on 24/7 once the pre-filter arrives.
When I get the kanaplex, I'll clean the water 100%, throw in the epson and kana and dechlorinator/etc.
Anything I should be aware of? thanks again for the help, I can already tell he's a happier fish.
