first split 10 gallon tank, basic questions

I am so sorry if these have been asked 100s of times. Never set up a split tank. SO I did and all my betta does is stare at his self at the bottem. I havent aquired his buddy yet but my divider is kinda see through; is the off brand petsmart one. DO i need to put up some plants as a barrior or paint it. Also would you use 2 mini heaters or use one big one; if one big one, will one betta be hotter. I mean that sound dumb but yea. Also last question, when he is not staring at himself he seems to sulk. I heard of some bettas moving from small tanks (he had a 2 Kritter keep) to big tanks, they get depressed somtimes.

It may take him several days to get used to the space. Lots of hidey places and plants help so he doesnt feel exposed. Also, sometimes bettas don't like so too much space, they vary from fish to fish.

You can do two small heaters in each corner, I've heard of that working, but for a 10g I'd simply put the heater in one of teh corners near the filter and the filter will circulate the warm water everywhere.

Some plants along the divider is alright, it's okay fi the fish see eachother once in a while, sicne flaring is a natural thing for them.

thanks, at moment he has about 4 silk plants and a piece of driftwood. and to save some money, yea 1 heater is good. Just wanted to make sure. thanks
