Bugs???

I cannot get a picture of these guys, look like dirt in the pictures. But they look like poo... Or dirt. They seem to be attracted to my driftwood, algea grows best there so I thought it may eat it. I discovered them this morning when the poo that I was trying to clean swam away! Any ideas? I poseted in the planted tank section because I want to put plants in the tank and I fear they might eat the plants. It is a 10 gallon. There is only a single betta, pretty little thing. I did have a single ball or morimo but I removed it out of fear. What are they? Will they hurt the tank? Is it a bad thing that the betta eats them? Help!

DiiQue... I actually beat you to that already, but those are up close pics and my only camera (aka phone) cannot zoom that much, It is confirmes though that they eat the algea. And they are only as bit as a grain of dirt. But close watching reveals at least 1 set of legs the cyclops is my bet guess.

It's a good site. I found that a couple months ago when I saw some tiny worm-like creatures in my tank and I wanted to make sure they werent harmful to my fish.

I wish I had bugs that ate algae... the two pond snails I put in my tank are just dropping their crud all over the place. Now trying to think of a way to rehome them (will probably go to a nearby lake or something once things warm up).

they don't eat it that fast... but the algea ain't spreading at least! I realized earlier that at one point in time i had this plant looking thing in the tank. it floated at the top and i thought that it was a piece of grass or something. but after looking at that sight, i learned that it was a hydra!
