My first aquarium. Some community questions

So I am about to buy a Betta and I also really like the look of the rainbow sharks but according to various sites they are fairly aggressive when they get bigger and as much as I like them i don't want them and my Betta to fight each other. What are some other tropical fish suitable with a Betta?

Well right now just a little 2- 2 1/2 gallon tank. I'm only planning on like 3 fish including the Betta. I plan on upgrading as needed. Would it be safe with the Rainbow Sharks and the Betta? Bettas only live for about 2 years but the R.S. live for 6 all the way up to 9 years in rare cases so i would think that them and a betta would be okay while theyre young for the first year right?
I was also considering Tetras in place of the Sharks.

Rainbow Sharks should not go with Betta and a 2 gallon is too small for more than one fish, one gallon per inch of fish is a general guideline

You can't put anything in with a betta in something so small. That's just barely big enough for him alone.

If you want to get tank mates I suggest getting a 10g and doing school fish like 6 neon tetras.

Rainbow sharks are no good with bettas. They can get up to 7"+ long and require 30g by absolute minimum. 55g is better for them.
