Giant black growth on Bettas head?

This is not my fish, it's from a breeders page.. he breeds and also buys Bettas and resells them.

I've never seen this before on a Betta and right now these are the only two photos available of him. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas as to what it could be so I can try and help the owner out.

Edit:

He says the fish has had this since he was young, it almost looks like a type of lymphocystis except it's black and not white.

Poor guy :( Not sure... I'd venture a tumor. Maybe PM OFL.

I was also thinking it looks similar to a tumor. I've asked for any more photos he might have available so I can share them here.

I have never seen something like this on a Betta, he almost looks like those giant goldfish with the deformed puffy heads.

Hahaha, I posted the same boy in the "betta pictures" section! Some people are saying it's a tumor.

Yeah, I think it's a tumor as well. Atleast this guy is in a good home, I know the guy really loves his Bettas.

He really does, which is why I considered buying a fish from him. I wonder if he's planning on selling the boy, though.

I actually just asked him if he was going to keep him for himself or not. He said he's up for open bidding on AquaBid right now.
