King Betta

So I am planning on getting a king betta next weekend. I've never had one before and I am asking those of you who have/had king bettas for some advice! He will be going into a 10 gallon, cycled tank. He will be in there by himself, it is heated and has a filter.
-how much do you need to feed a king? I have tiny Omega One pellets and larger Top Fin pellets, as well as Omega One betta flakes. I don't want to end up under feeding him!
-what is the personality of your kings? I know they vary depending on the individual fish but I'm just wondering! (:

What kind of decorations are you using? I have heard there more aggressive.

I have lots of silk plants and 2 moss balls. Other than that I have a small piece of driftwood, a little cave thing that looks like a beehive (but that might be going into Tobys tank when I move him) and 2 of those roman columns. Kinda random decorations. I'm not sure what their personality is. Although I'm guessing they are like any other betta? Like it depends on the individual fish?

You can add a plant to the driftwood.

I don't really have the right lighting or money right now. Otherwise I would.

You definatly have the lighting. You can cheeply purchase Java moss/Fern and Anuibus.

Lol I thought I needed different lighting...then that's a problem solved.
I only have $20 though and a king betta near my house is $12 and I also need gravel for my 1.5 gallon, which will be about $3 or $4. And plants aren't cheap here, a small Anubis is like $6 or $7. It's crazy

Java fern is cheap.

try to put the plants and tall decorations to the sides of the tank, with open water in the middle...they need more swimming room and prefer a big area to cruise through.

I dont know on there gernal personality, but mine always follows the glass and breaks his neck to see me when i come threw the door, also he is the only betta i have that will over eat. almost like my community which always comes to front of tank giving me those puppy dog eyes. most of my boys will eat 3 pellets somtimes, then maybe another in the evening. one time just to see i feed my king 7 at once, he was fine but i learned then they will over eat. if I accidently drop more into my other boys, the shun the other after eating 3, not my king.. also isnt king another word for the big plakat ones
