Wheni crushed them I would drop them over a plant or deco so the pieces would fall onto that instead of down to the gravel. So,e pieces would still hit the bottom but not much. The Betta would get used to the food in a certain place & get most of it. I thought I saw NLS at Petsmart but I could be wrong, I know I've seen it at Petco, I bought mine at one of them.

According to Petsmart website they don't offer NLS at all and Petco doesn't show Betta pellets. I can check in my local petsmart tomorrow, if not then I will find a petco and see if they have it in store only

Hmmm, that's odd they wouldn't show it on the website. Those are the only 2 pet stores I shop for supplies so I know that's where I bought it. In fact I looked at it yesterday when I was looking at fish supplies. In any case, the Omega one pellets would be fine if not NLS.

well....I crushed up a few pellets and placed them under the water level in his floating log and he seemed to actually eat them off the bottom of the log. So far I have done this twice today and he seems to like eating off the bottom rather than on the surface. what a weird fish.....

My closest Petsmart doesn't carry NLS but they do carry Omega. So I know it's there as an option just in case. Thanks everyone for all the great ideas in getting him to eat. Now I can only wait and see to make sure he fills out.

I currently have Omega One Shrimp Pellets I had purchased for previous fish I'd had in the past. Would this be ok for Betta or or no?

As a treat maybe but not as their main diet. They probably don't have all the necessary nutrition needed.

a varied diet helps, so he won't get bored of pellets all the time. You can alternate with an occasional frozen food like mysis shrimp, brine shrimp and blood worms. :) But yes they are treats, pellets offer the best stable diet. I wouldn't use the omega ones as a daily thing perhaps once a week or so.
