Exclamation What's wrong with my betta's eyes??

My Red male Betta has recently gotten fin rot over the past few days, which i'm currently treating for with API Melafix (started today) and just did a 90% water change.

Besides the fin rot, I've also noticed other unusual things going on with his behavior. When I got home from school today, I could see his fin rot had severely increased, and this is when I decided to switch him off the AQ. Salt and onto the Melafix. I did a 90% WC and put in clean warm water for him. Besides the advancement of the fin rot, when I walked up to his tank he was at the front top right corner, and then he started "swimming" oddly and very fast to the front left corner, which is not usual for him.

He also seems a bit more lethargic, he is currently sulking at the bottom of his tank.

Please help, I want to do everything I can to get him back to his old self.

Housing
What size is your tank? 10 gallon
What temperature is your tank? 78-80 degrees
Does your tank have a filter? yes
Does your tank have an air stone or other type of aeration? no
Is your tank heated? yes
What tank mates does your betta fish live with? none

Food
What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Aqueon Betta pellets and bloodworms for treats
How often do you feed your betta fish? pellets every day, pellets + bloodworm every other day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? I've been doing daily since he's had his Fin Rot, but I would do it once a week.
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 20-50%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Aqueon Water Conditioner, Aqueon Ammonia Neutralizer

Water Parameters:
Have you tested your water? If so, what are the following parameters? n/a

Ammonia:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
pH:
Hardness:
Alkalinity:

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? Fins have gotten shorter, waxy like on the ends, cloudy looking eyes(?)
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? Lethargic, sulking at bottom of the tank
When did you start noticing the symptoms? Fin Rot: 5 days ago, everything else today
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? Started on AQ. Salt when Fin Rot was mild, followed directions and advice given, but now using API Melfaix since Fin Rot got worse.
Does your fish have any history of being ill? No
How old is your fish (approximately)? N/A

It's a bacterial infection.

Melafix can be lethal for bettas. I wouldn't use it.. he needs a real antibiotic like Kanaplex by Seachem for fast rot.

So I had posted in your other thread that you needed to monitor ammonia and nitrite during this cycle with a drops kit.. have you been doing so?

Have you really been using a mr. clean magic eraser in the tank? that could be toxic.. It's not straight sponge. There are chems, and the sponge itself disintegrates with liquid so whatever the sponge itself is made of will now be in his water in dissolved form.

I didn't use the magic clean eraser in his tank, I used it in my other one (which hasn't seemed to harm anything). I have not been able to go to Petco, but I am going there straight after school tomorrow for the test kit. Where can I get Kanaplex? Only online?

Kanaplex is at my LFS but not everyplace carries it. You'll have to call around.

If you can't find it you can try treating with Maracyn Plus or Furan 2.

Antibiotics will crash your cycle but with him in that bad of shape he should not be used for fish in cycling. His immune system is too broken right now. Just know if you treat him in the tank you'll have to start your cycle all over again.

How long has the tank been set up?

You'd be seeing lots of spikes around that time. I'd forget about the cycle at this point and focus on getting him well.

Alright, thanks for all your help I really appreciate it. I get off of school at 2:25, so I'll make a quick trip to get the test kit and his medicine. Hopefully he'll eventually be back to feeling well.
