Marimo moss ball

I just got a moss ball because I'm impulsive when it comes to my bettas and it was by the bettas and I thought oh hey it must be for them... I know... I'm bad sometimes. Anyway, how do I go about introducing it to my new tank? And what should I know about it?

I'd quarantine it in water alone without any fish for a month before adding. Afterwards... just rinse/squeeze it out really well in some dechlorinated water and drop it in.

Also when you put it in the tank you need the turn it every once in awhile because they tend to get brown on one side.

Would normal tap water do? I've heard about the browning. It's pretty interesting

Yea, the chlorine in the tap water should kill off the bacteria and stuff in the moss balls.

What I did was soak it in fresh tap water for a week, replacing the water each day while giving it a good gentle squeeze and rolling in my hands during water changes.

Then I did it for one more week but instead of using regular tap water, I used conditioned water followed by soaking it in tank water for the very last day before squeezing, rolling, and popping it into the actual fish tank.

During each weekly water change, I net it out and give it a gentle squeeze and roll in old tank water before putting it back in the tank.
