Hey all, im new here. I've had bettas in the past but never new there were different kinds till a couple months ago. Over the weekend I bought my first betta in a couple years. His name is Bullet and he is supposed to be a halfmoon.



Anyways, Id just like to know your thoughts on him and if he is actually a Halfmoon. I know its not the best pic :/

What a gorgeous fish! To see if he's a halfmoon, getting a photo of him flaring at full capacity would help us help you :) He looks like he has the definite potential.

In recent years more and more interest has been sparked in heavier tails and double tails and so on.
May I ask what size tank he is in? It doesn't look very warm which is why he's probably laying there on the bottom.

He is one of the marina cubes. I am not sure the size galllon wise, if that makes sence. I have a 10 gallon with other fish in it that I am trying to get rid of so he might be going in there if i find somewhere for the other fish.

Okay, the marina cube is a little less than a gallon. Since this thread is not about the care, but rather to admire his colors, I will not get into detail.. But he should be placed in a heated tank at least one full gallon (I wouldn't go less than 2.5 gallons personally). The heat will help him come to life, bettas usually swim about with their tails on show all the time. I know something is wrong when my betta's close their fins lol

I would like to see Bullet warm up and put on a show! He seems to be a purpley metallic color- so it will be fantastic when he flares!

He is a very pretty boy! As others have stated, geting a picture of him flaring makes it easier to identify tail type.

while im at it, any suggestions on a heater that doesnt cost big bucks but also works well?? thanks :)
