What's the gender?

This fish has me all kinds of confused...what gender is it exactly? Any guesses? It's a HMPK, roughly 4months old. It doesn't looks quite like its brother (which I have also), by not having such a pronounced anal fin. However, the fish is all head, with a very slender body, and when it flares, it's got a beard. Like almost as big as its brothers beard. There are no ventrals.

This fish also looks quite different from its sisters...all sisters have a roundish body and a shorter, pointier anal fin. Also, they don't have beards when they flare.

This is zebra again. I'm totally stumped, and looking for any opinions. Thanks.

Does it have a white spot near it's anal fin? If so, it's a girl.

Actually, this one does have an "egg spot," but his/her brother does too...they all have them, males and females.

However, this one has the least pronounced one of the group of females he or she is currently residing with. And like I said, this fish is all head with a skinny body.

Egg spots aren't always a sign of gender when they are young.. I think this is a male.. who is missing his ventrals :(

Yeah, the no-ventrals thing is really sad...he came to me this way though. He seems to be happy enough without them. So I think Zebra's name will be changed to Norbert. We'll see what my daughter says about that.

Now that I look closely, he is boy, I'm almost certain. Woke up this morning to find a chunk taken out of his anal fin, which means he has to get out of the sorority ASAP. I think those girls would harass him to death; they are fiesty enough to do it.

Thanks everybody! I had long suspected this was a boy, but just couldn't nail it until now.
