b. splendes vs. b. imbellis

Hey!
How can i tell the diffrence between a betta splendes hand a betta imbillis?
I think i got a mix of splendes and imbellis females and males.
Hope someone dan help me out :)

Here is my aquarium story with pictures:

Got 3 betta females and 2 males in different tanks.

Istarted with 1 crowntail male and 2 plakat females. But then it came out that one of my females was a gorgeous plakat male. My 2 males had a big fight but i was on time to put them apart . So i ended up with 2males and i bought me another 2 females . One of my males has his own tank.

Igot a question about one of my females: in the petstore she had horizontally stripes all over her body all the time. She looks white with brown stripes. Is this because of the stress or is this natural? And what i think is very remarkable is that Charlie is twice the size of Murphy...

Van anyone, pls determine all of my bettas by imbellis or splendes?

They look like normal wild-type coloured female splendens to me.

The horizontal stripes are usually linked to stress.

Not sure about this, need to check - I think imbillis has shiny gill covers. The above pictures are all splendens.

Does your other male live with all the girls? Might not be the best idea as males and females still fight.

I agree all I see are your average garden variety Splendens.

As for the stripes your female has that is caused by stress so figure out what is causing the stress and correct it.

Woops, didn't see that question - those stripes are their camo stripes, usually young juveniles have them to help keep them safe. They can also be stress stripes - she will continue to have those as long as she isn't feeling safe in her tank. Whether it's her camo (can take months to lose) or stress, she is uncomfortable and as LadyV had said, should find out the cause - unless she is very little. If she is still like that without a male present, she could be upset by the other females or other fish. Some bettas do best alone.

Definitely remove the male from the females - your average pet store males are a bit more territorial/aggressive as they have been separated from others for a longer period of time. Once they adjust to their new home a bit you will start seeing aggression and territory disputes - only under certain circumstances can one attempt to keep males/females together, but commonly it's not recommended due to their aggressive behavior.. not called fighting fish for their loving soft side ;)

I'm highly suspicious that Charlie is a mix. The proportion of his head to the rest of his body is larger than a splendens plakat.

I think they are all just regular splendens they dont show features of wild types :(
although your male does shoe wild type feature a bit but id say maybe 20% to 35% only i'll be glad to explain more if you let me draw on your pictures for demonstrations that way you guys know wat im talking about
cant be an imbellis cause gill cover is not shiny blue
