Tank cleaning accident.

Hi everyone! I was trying to clean Lucky's tank, but in order to get him out of it I needed to use a net. He actually managed to jump from the net because I didn't cover it in time. I had to touch him (gently) to get him into the cup before he drowned. Will he be okay? :( I know some fish get very sick if oil from skin gets on them...

Most fish that do this turn out fine. but I would still keep an eye on him for a while to make sure.

Have you completed the water change yet?
When you do, add a bit extra of the water conditioner (Stress Coat brand is good but others will be fine). Turn off the lights for a few hours and let him rest, jumping-falling-and handling are all very stressful to a betta.
If you think he is clamp finned and lethargic in a few hours then you can start an aquarium salt treatment.

Thank you very much! Yes, I completed the cleaning, but I did think to add a little bit more conditioner, and I relocated to my living room so that he wouldn't have to stare at the giant stompy person that tried to squish him... I sure hope he is alright.

jessp was right and I know from experience- depending on the fall bettas usually spring back pretty quick.
I hope yours is a lucky one :0

Some things to watch out for: clamped gills, rapid gill movement, lethargic, not eating, red inflamed gills, fuzzy patches, .
