Active....

I've had my betta bubbles since December 31 of 07 and he has made many bubble nests "hense the name" but that is not my question he turned like a bright purple but he is getting less active and less excited when I feed him. I'm getting live food soon but right now i am using flakes bacuase that is what the people at the store said but why isnt he as active as he used to be?

What temperature is the water? Do you have a heater? How big is the tank?

Do you have a heater in this tank? Tank size?

Try varying his diet with pellets, freeze-dried bloodworms/brine shrimp. Flakes arn't really suited for a betta and dont provide some vitamins/nurtients they need.

At 74 he will be very sluggish compared to his activity level at say 78. Heaters are made in very small sizes but you don't list your tank size so I can't recommend a particular wattage. I saw in another thread that 5 gallons would be an upgrade for you so probably a 7 watt would be big enough if you are much smaller than a 5.

since you have a one gallon you will probably be good with a 7-10 watt heater
