Is he sick? Is he a HM?

Hi everyone, meet Xavier. He's been in the tank about a month of so and when i got him he wasn't doing well in the LFS.

thats pretty much why i got him, plus his pearly white colour.

Can someone tell me what he is exactly? He was sold to me as a half moon, but his tail is a lot shorter than my last HM.

Also, quite a few scales were missing from the top of his head and they seem to be growing in. But his tail is still more or less transparent at the end.

Any advice or help appreciated!

Well, it's kinda hard to see what he is if he's not flaring, but he might be a HM. To me, he seems a bit bloated, but you might want a second opinion about this. I'm sure his tail will grow longer as he ages. The transparency at the end might mean that it's new growth, or it's the coloring of your boy.

He's gorgeous, by the way :)

Hes nice, I think he might be a super delta, see if you can get a pic of him flared. His colors might change as he grows and gets healthier but it doesn't look like any things wrong.

thanks for that Majestic...

He was a little bloated when i took that shot, had just introduced the glass shrimp, didn't realise he would go quite as nuts on the little ones as he did. :) If the larger females with eggs drop fry he'll be like a pig in mud!

He is quite young, as he's tiny, so clear means new growth....did not know that. he is super active and no damage to the fins... just transparent.

Cheers eatmice!

Not necessarily the clear could just be his coloring, like a butterfly betta :)

Hard to tell, but the way his tail hangs makes me think VT as well.

Oh yea, the dorsal fin looks like a VT. If he is, I'm so sorry that you got ripped off.
