Looks like my Betta's tail is splitting?

What does that mean? He's a veil tail

can you get pictures? it could mean he's ripping it on a decoration or splitting it from over flaring.

how big is his tank? how often do you change his water? what kind of decorations do you have? like, any plastic plants?

Thats the best I could get. I do a 75% water change weekly. 3.5 gallon tank with filter. and there are 2 small plastic plants and 1 large silk plant.

that looks like he might have ripped it on a plant. my Manhattan's tail looked like that. take the silk plants, and run a pantyhose over them. if it snags, you know it'll rip your betta's tail.

and, i'd personally up the water changes to a 100% and a 50% every week. especially since his tail's healing up now. you don't really have to do much to heal a rip. just keep the water clean. :3

Yeah I hope it's just a rip, just looks way different then it did when I got him so I hope it's not a disease. But thanks!

Water changes help everything(almost).Smaller size tanks can spike very easily. if you are not diligent. how is the tail coming along?

It looks different everyday. No signs of rot and I took the silk plant out. It was quite spiky. Still eats normal and flares at me.
