so, yesterday, I noticed that my new betta, Rose, had some scales that had a black "outline". I decided to ignore the black that day.
Today, I found more black on the same scales and looked at the myco thread. I saw a picture of some gray fuzz. I looked around for gray fuzz on Rose and found some fuzz on her scale. it looked a little silver, since it was in the light. I told my parents that my betta needs to be QTed because it may have myco. my parents just said that myco is fake and it was possible my imagination. (I disagree, myco is REALLY REAL REAL)

Mycobacteria is real. There are a lot of strains of it, not just the 'mystery disease.' That said, it does NOT mean this is what Rose has!
More likely, Rose is stressed out. She's a new member of a tank that's overstocked.... And yes, I know that you know this. And I also know that your parents added the fish, and that you can't do anything about it.
What "medications" do you have on hand? If I recall correctly, you have aquarium salt. Do you have anything else? And what will your parents let you do?
Tell us that, and maybe someone can recommend something for you.
How frequently are you doing water changes? And do you know the temperature in the tank?

Due to the overcrowding, I would say she's coming down with a bacterial infection. Don't jump to conclusions, it may not be the same mycobacteria that everyone is talking about.
I know there's nothing you can do but keep trying to convince him that the tank is overcrowded and the fish will get sick. Just be respectful.

In this case, the cycle isn't going to help. The only way to control the amount of waste being produced is with large water changes. In an ordinary tank though, I would agree that a large water change isn't helping.
