Question about water conditioner

Hi everyone,

Im wondering what the best water conditioner to purchase is?
Ive run out of the nutrafin (what the petstore gave me originally) and wondering if there is anything better out there (im sure there is).

Keeping in mind, i live in australia, so some products you suggest may not be available here.

Thanks in advance :)

Honestly, Seachem Prime or an Australian made brand called Supa Chlor (basically identical to Prime but way cheaper and doesn't contain formaldehyde) are the two best water conditioners available here.

I got a 500ml bottle of Supa Chlor from Tech Den for $12.50. They also have a flat rate of $7.50 for delivery.

Petbarn stores, Coburg Aquarium and Subscape Aquarium should all stock Seachem Prime. I think Supa Chlor however, may only be available online unless you can find someone who stocks it or can order it in.

I'm also from Melbourne so have been to a few aquariums on the hunt for the perfect one.

Yeah I know. Plus everything aquarium related is about 100 times more expensive to purchase here than overseas.

Forgot to add, a 500ml bottle of Prime is usually around the $35 mark. However, you only need like .25ml per 10L or something like that so it will last a very long time. But they do come in smaller sizes. Just be careful of buying Seachem Betta Basics. I don't think it is as cost effective and it adjusts your pH to neutral all the time.

i ended up buying the prime from mentone aquarium, i think you are right about the supachlor.
i bought the medium size as i kinda figured it would last longer.
it seems that you dont need much... is it highly concentrated?
i have a 15 litre tank, so im guessing i would only need a drop or two?

Ok so with the prime it says 1 capful for 200 litres. My tank is 15 litres so I bought a dropper and put 2 drops in. Is this enough for a 100% water change?

Thanks :)

I usually put 4 drops in my 15L (sometimes 5 if I really derp it and let a drop fall inadvertently) after being advised by a guy at Aqueus (another good Melbourne store if the St Kilda area is an easy commute for you) that 2 drops was good for an 8L which was what I had at the time before upgrading. I'm not sure if this is correct and am slightly nervous, but I haven't had any problems whatsoever with this dosage so far.

Hmm ok coz they told me 2 would be ok... Eekk!!
What happenes if you use too much?
It's hard switching products because you can't be 100% sure it's right
