HELP!!! Gus has been injured! :'(

*Please go to my profile and look at the profile titled "Gus Emergency" for pictures

I came in my room 30 minutes ago to find my poor Betta STUCK IN HIS CASTLE! I have no idea how long he was like that, but he sure thrashed when I picked him up! I got him out of the castle and realized he has a flesh colored wound on his back and stomach where is was stuck. His fins got a bit shredded. Please tell me what to do

Also, Gus is active and responsive. He is going up to the top of the water for air. The tank is 10 galon with a Tetra Whisper 10-30i. PFS substrate with plants, snails, and shrimp. Water chem is fine. Temp is 78. It's slightly basic and soft.

Ouch, im definitely not experienced in this type of injury, however i would just keep his water CLEAN so that no infection sets in. Add some stress coat and maybe a tiny bit of aquarium salt. Good luck! Keep us posted!

It's ok! The wound is not to big. As precautionary measures, I would remove the castle (obviously) and keep him in pristine conditions. If you have access to ial, use it. Monitor him very closely, at the slightest sign of anything going wrong, ask or treat him accordingly. Best of luck to you and your fish!

Thanks Gracie. OMG, I am just BEYOND upset. I'm the overly cautious one that over prepares for everything. Ever since I lost Todo (False Julii) anyway and now... I missed it. 1 detail that could end up costing me my fish :'(

I am going to wait til tomorrow to do a pwc so that he can rest tonight. What is Ial? Where is it sold?

He is gonna miss his castle. He loves that thing! His dumb bum just tried to squeeze in the back window! That little spot is like the size of the tip of my pinky! No wonder he got stuck

AQ Salt and keep it warm. You dont want him getting infected, and AQ Salt helps heal open wounds like that. I'm so sorry to hear he got stuck! Best to remove teh castle and find him something with bigger openings. I hope he'll be okay!

If you can float a small QT inside the 10g, he'll stay warm and you can dose him properly with the salt.

He's lucky. We had a female get stuck in the decor and we didn't find her until the following morning after she'd drowned. :(

I agree with floating a deli container, or even a pop bottle with the top cut off in the 10.

We're wishing him a speedy recovery!
