Advice please???

Hey everyone,
My uncle brang me a spare 2.2 gallon(8 litre) "tank" yesterday and i was just wondering... if you guys reckon it'd be slack to put a betta in it. I've put a small cave in it and 2 small plants(1 silk and 1 real tiny java fern).

Otherwise if you guys think i shouldnt... I'll just wait for my 17th birthday in June to get my 100 litre setup and put my new betta in that as the centrepiece with maybe a few catfish and what-not.

I'd hate to see my fish suffer so i wouldnt do anything stupid to jeopordize
its health.

Also guys...
If i clean my gravel in boiling hot water to get rid of all the grime it has
on top of it, and then leave it to sun dry,... thats orite to do right? Cause my uncle(4 foot tank) reckons its the best way to clean anything i put in an aquarium.

Is the gravel "nasty?" If it looks fine, dont wash it off. It contains the good bacteria that would help your cycle along.

I personally think the betta would do fine. Do you have a heater?

nah i havent got the heater yet but either have i bought the betta to put in the tank so its alright. Im trying to find a decent heater for a tank so small. Cant seem to find any. Should i cycle the tank even though it is 2.2 gallons?

all the pet stores around me dont carry mini heaters but what ive done is ask one to order it for me and they did :)

put it in the 2.2 thing and just put cat fish in as a centerpiece

Might as well cycle it if you can. A good liquid test kit (API or Red Sea) will tell you when everything is ready for the fish. Do you have a filter too?

i need to find a small heater and filter then my tank is ready to cycle... Just hard finding ones so small. the fish shop i went to told me not to put a heater or filter in cause it doesnt matter. Morons shouldnt even be working there. US is way more equippeed with ALL aquarium needs over australia. :(

That's because the people at the pet store dont kno anything about pets My brother got a lizard and they told him to feed it 6 times a day. CRAZY!
