It shouldn't take too long. My CT gets bloating issues and I usually notice them at night... I just scoop up some tank water, toss in a tsp of Epsom salt, stir it up and pour it in the tank. I have to say, I do this often right before bed and it only takes a couple minutes. :)

Thanks :) AQ salt added, and he took it like a real trooper. Was actually kind of curious as to what I was adding into his water so he swam through it as I was adding it in.

So now I don't do anything until the next water change, in which I add AQ salt proportional to the amount of new water I'm changing, correct?

Thank you very much :) And thanks for being so patient with me. It's the first time I've used AQ salt so I wanted to do it right.

Just wondering, is it possible that he has gill flukes? What do they look like? I've been google image-ing "betta fish gill flukes" but can't seem to find a picture of them.

Gill flukes can't really be seen with the naked eye. The gill may be sticking out, gray or red especially around the edge and he will be breathing heavily and rapidly.. usually losing color.

The salt may treat it.
