What kind of Betta is this???

I found him at wal mart in a cup with a mean male CT. His tail has grown back a bit. I was just wondering what kind of betta he might be? I have had him for about 4 weeks now!

He is a beautiful boy! It is a little hard to tell until his fins are completely recovered but judging by that dorsal fin and his straight caudal edges I would say he is a Halfmoon doubletail, very pretty

Thanks for responding! Do you think his tail will ever grow back fully? I have heard that once they are that far gone they are sort of "scarred" like that for the rest of their lives :( Since his top and bottom fins are so much bigger than his tail its hard for him to keep his balance.

Hey there,

Yes his tail has been pretty damaged in the past but by giving him plenty of regular water changes to maintain good water quality and providing him with a good diet he has every chance of full fin regrowth. I have had bettas in the past where their fins did not recover but they were rescues and half dead when I got them, their fins were damaged beyond repair (way way worse than your boy, their fins had gone all stiff and dead looking and there was no new fin regrowth) however they did survive and live a reasonably happy long life. Your boys fins don't look too bad, they appear to be healthy so keep his water clean and give him a lot of time and you may be surprised at his progress

I really love his color! He looks great! I can't tell the tail type though, looks either HM or HMDT
