Sorry for bumping an old thread but I have an update. It had been 8 days now since I quarantined my Betta. His tail has gotten gigantic, but his fin rot has not gone away. His tail has grown by at least a quarter of it's pervious size, and his lower fin has gotten twice as long. I have observed him, and he is not biting his tail or anything, and is back to being super hyper. But what is wrong with the tail? It keeps on getting longer, but the rips won't heal themselves.
During these past 8 days I have been switching him from one fish tank to another(1 gal and 0.75 gal) while changing water 100% daily. Also I have been adding aquarium salt and bettafix along with the conditioner.

It just takes time. As long as you're seeing regrowth it sounds like he's getting what he needs and you're doing a great job.

I would not use Bettafix.

How long has he been on salt now? You can only do this up to 10 days.

To help more with regrowth you can use API Stress coat+ at 1 ml per 1 gallon and fresh water vitachem at 2 drops per gallon

It is his 8th day on salt. There is regrowth in the sense that his tail got longer, but as you see the rips are still present and did not go away at all. It is like with a nail. If you chip it, then the nail will still grow, but the chipped part will just move forward.
And as a conditioner I have been using stress coat.
Still though I mean should the rips stay? They did not go away at all.

It's only been 8 days. It will take several weeks or even a month to fully regrow his tail.
