cichlids 37g

i have a cycled 37 gallon and would like cichlids to try out, i've had a couple and loved them but they got to big. now i'm curious as to what and how many i can have in there with my 6"sh pleco. i know about tangs which i may try but i rather go for something a bit bigger

thanks for any replies

In a 36 gal tank it would be difficult to keep cichlids. That is just not enough room for them to grow. Even tangs get 5-6" although they do grow slow so you would have some time to get a larger tank. You could check into Brevis shell dwellers. If you want to keep cichlids, get at least a 55 gal tank.
