Best filter for a 2.5 gallon tank

Wow, first I'm going to comment on your avatar- beautiful betta! Can you tell me what his breed is? I have one that looks like that (different color) but I was told he was a half moon. I'm not sure that he is?

Also, your home made filter is awesome! What are the little jewel looking things? What is the small round plastic thing and long plastic thing? I would love to make one cause none of the filters I have are suitable for bettas.

My avatar is a Copper Eagle Over Half Moon. He has passed away but I just got his brother in the mail today.
That is a prefilter sponge, a connection tube for lee's undergravel filters, air line, air stone, and marbles. (I get the small ones from craft stores) Cost about roughly $5.00 to $10.00 to make and the great thing about it is you have options on the size of the sponge. They sell premade sponge filters but the only ones I found were just too big for a 2.5g or a 5g. I've hooked two of them up to a 10g Tetra Whisper Air Pump with no problems. I am sure it could hold 3 of them it the air lines aren't to long.

4 I have gotten off Aquabid, 6 from Petco, Walmart, and Petsmart. I get my coppers off Aquabid from BettaAkapes.

I agree that 2.5 gall better just water changes and don't need filters. But if you really want one don't forget to rinse it regularly. And how much water changes you going to do for your tank?
