Lump on Jade

There's a bit of a bulge on Jade's right side. It's hard to see with the camera, so I drew a quick reference for it.



The lump is the red line


Any ideas what it could be?

Just pooped 5 minutes ago. Started off normal, now is clearish-white

What tank mates does your betta fish live with? there's a male VT on the other side

What type of food do you feed your betta fish? Betta bites, gammarus, bettamin
How often do you feed your betta fish? 2 pellets, once a day

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? 2x a week
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? 100%
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? dechlorinator, 1 tsp/gal salt

pH: 7.8 (high)

How has your betta fish's appearance changed? she's wider through the belly, and has a bulge by her right pectoral fin

When did you start noticing the symptoms? this evening
Have you started treating your fish? If so, how? I'm not treating till I know what's wrong.

How old is your fish (approximately)? we've had her for a year.

I find it hard to tell exactly when a female's bloating o.O Especially bigger ones. It could be liquid build up, and I saw someone else suggest a definite med for it...

Mike thinks the weird poo is pointing to a parasite.

Either or, those are probably the likely culprit. I had to ninja the fiance to keep him from Melafixing! >_<

Then maybe try her in epsom for a day away from mushu? And keep an eye on Mushu...

I'm considering treating him also, just in case.

Better safe than sorry. I'm not sure where it would've come from though, our bettas have NEVER had parasites before!

I dont fully understand how internal parasites always work..but I'd assume a piece of bad food or something.
