I take you up on this challenge!
My recipe is created by me from scratch and therefore my measurements are never the same. I also never wrote down my recipe before so it might be unconventional... So I will asterisk where you should caution and use discretion to your own taste...(here we go)
Amanda's Amazing stuffed meatless burgers
1/2 pkg Yves meatless ground round
1/2 egg (whipped with a fork)
breadcrumbs (equivelant to about a slice or a slice and half)
*dried parmasen cheese (kraft is a good flavor but I use Saputo)
*spices: cayenne pepper, cracked black pepper, sweet basil, oregano, powdered garlic, marjoram, thyme.
chopped onion (approx. 2 tbs chopped)
chopped mushroom (approx 2tbs chopped)
prepared yellow mustard (1 tbs)
shredded cheese (1/4 cup.. Maybe a bit less)
Nice tasty buns (I just use Villagio hamburger buns usually)
------------------------------------
*1*Mix the ground round, spices, egg, yellow mustard, and parmesan cheese, (everything except the breadcrumbs onions and mushrooms) until it's a sticky mass. Then add the breadcrumbs and let it sit for a few minutes. It is ready when you can form patties. If it slops apart then you need to add more breadcrumbs. The egg helps it stick but 1/2 of it is plenty.
*2*While the mixture sets, pan fry the onions and mushroom.
*3*Form 4 small patty balls. Flatten slightly, make a small indent in two of the patties. Fill the hole with the fried onion, mushroom and shredded cheese. Take a different patty ball and mash it on top of the filled part. Using both hands, mould it around and around to seal the sides and keep everything inside. This is easiest if the patties are still sticky from egg a bit. When they are stuffed and formed, flatten them a bit to form a more conventional patty shape.
*4*fry on a pan or grill for about 5-10 minutes depending on size and temp of grill.
*5*dress to your taste. Miracle whip, mustard, ranch, corn relish, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, pickles, tomato, etc...
