new question

ok so now playboi is acting like a fish which makes me happy but we are up late sometimes and i turn the light on when it gets dark out and turn it off when we go to bed a few days ago he started flaring at the side of the tank but only when the lights in the room are off and his tank light is on is that normal? i mean the rest of the time he is fine but went he does it he opens his mouth and it seems like he is attacking the side of his tank

well if it is dark outside his tank and light inside he can probably see his reflection in the glass and thinks it is another betta which is why he is attacking it. so either keep both lights on or off and you should be good.

a lot of people on the forum have complained about their fish "attacking" the glass. it is just the thing with the lights making their reflection visible to them.

Yes, The reflection that they see they think it is infact another fish and they flex and stretch out and the "other fish" does the same because it is a reflection and this makes the fish fight quickly turn off the lights because this can really be dangerous if it goes on for a long time

yes if it goes on for long periods of time your fish will stress himself out and he might even die so try to stop it when you see it.
