Velvet

Hey all. So my husband and I recently got a little double half moon male but we didn't realize he had velvet we just thought he was stressed at the store. We have been trying to cure him for about a week and a half now by using methylane blue and a little bit of salt and changing every day. The gold seems to be coming off but he is still refusing to eat. He was active and ate a little when we first got him but now he refuses food and he has started floating on his side today. I put some garlic on a blood worm but he won't eat it so far. Does anyone have anything else I can do?

and within a few hours it looks like he didn't make it. makes me really sad. is there any way to delete threads? :(

I'm very sorry for your loss. Contact the administrator if you need to delete a thread. You could also contact a super moderator, but i am not sure if they can delete whole threads.

I'm sorry for your loss.Just for the future, make sure the temp is over 78 degrees, and you keep it very dark. That will speed up the velvet life cycle and prevent it from reproducing.

yeah we had him in the dark at about 80.
