I have been using that exact heater since December. I love it and it works very well.

I don't have personal experience with it, but as long as it fits it should be okay.. I would definitely give it a 24 hours test run to make sure it will hold an appropriate temp in something of that size.

The betta hammocks have metal in them that can rust. the metal must be removed.

Old tank was a 3 gallon but closer to 2.5 with plants and such. New one is a 4 gallon but slightly under with plants and etc. I had/have the same glass thermometer in both tanks and that is where I got my info. Since it is a mass produced product your mileage may vary :)

Thumbs up Update:

I just did a 100% water change with stress coat and put the heater in after a 24 hour test run. Also, I gave Pi one of the Betta hammocks. She had stress stripes through the whole thing, as she always does when I perform water changes. They usually fade after about half an hour.

Acclimating: (she's not that photogenic)

Use an opaque not clear cup during water changes. All my bettas freak out when I use clear cups too.

Also, she's the only one of my Bettas who freaks out during water changes.

That's good. I have one super neurotic/sensitive one that does this and the other two freak but don't spaz like Merlin.

I got my cups at the grocery store. They're just green plastic solo cups.. they make other colors too but that's what my store had.
