Help! Holes in tail!

When I change his water after I change it, I add the water conditioner. Then I float him in his cup for 15 mins. Then I add a tablespoon of new water to the cup every 10 mins for an hr as has been outlined for me on this forum. When I put the new water in I make sure the temp is the same from the faucet and in his tank by running the thermometer under the tap.

The heater I have is a 10 watt one. It's preset to 26 degrees so it never goes higher than that. When it starts going under 24 degrees it will come back on automatically.

Ill admit I haven't done the panty hose test yet...I actually don't think I have any so I shall go and get some.

It actually says they are granules on the packet. I normally put between 10-12 in his tank and I always wait to make sure he finishes them. If he leaves any I remove them.
The main ingredient in his food is fish meal.

Should I start treating his water with aquarium salt?
All his levels are great, and I think can see another tiny hole :(

Omg ok I found an old pair of panty hose and that &$!"en vase that's in his tank has snagged them!! They have pull marks in them.
This is bad yes?
I removed it right away

It's good you removed the vase since it snagged.

You need a heater that will stay a stable one temp and not allow a 4 degree temp swing before kicking on.

Packages of fish food always have bad instructions for feeding. I just figure they want to sell more, but who knows.

That betta hammock has some metal that rusts and can cause illness.. it needs to be removed if you haven't.

ETA: Are you talking about hai feng pellets koi or goldfish pellets? Even the smallest ones are huge compared to betta pellets and do not have the right nutrition for bettas. I don't see anything appropriate for bettas. http://www.farhitamafish.info/pellets-hai-feng I'm trying to figure out what you're using.. What exactly does it say and what are the exact ingredients?

Is there a brand of heater that you can recommend (I live in Australia)?
Omg not the hammock! My husband will be devastated that's his fave thing in the tank besides the fish! This makes me so angry how can they be allowed to sell things that hurt your fish?! And tht fact that I was told that heater would be ok makes me mad too :/

I don't know what's available in Australia..

but I would look for a different pellet whose first two or three ingredients are whole fish. I know NLS can be found there.

You can use a 25w adjustable heater in a tank of this size. I like Marineland Visitherm and Jager.. again no idea if they can be found there.

I have never used a betta hammock but my understanding is you can remove the metal and the hammock will still work.

For the tears I would just stay on top of water quality really carefully. you could add API Stress Coat+ at 1 ml per 1 gallon to help with growth. You can also use fresh water vitachem, if you can find it, at 2 drops per gallon added weekly (it's a fish multivitamin)
