inaccurate thermometer?

Last night Finn's new heater came so I set it to 82 and took out the old one ... however I noticed the new thermometer was saying it was 86 so I put in the thermometer he had had and that one says its at a constant 82 ... how do I know which is correct?

You need to take one that you know works, and use that. I have a digital instant-read meat thermometer in the kitchen that I use for this exact purpose ... after a good thorough cleaning, obviously.

Links? Glass thermometers, like Top Fin, are really accurate. Avoid the strip ones.

The best way to figure out which thermometer is correct (or at least close) is to use another one ... when you get two that mostly agree, you'll know which one to throw away.

Exclamation

Both are glass thermometers ... ones a Marina one is a fluvial nano ... apparently the marina and the internal thermometer in the new heater agree.
