holes in new betta's fins??

Does your tank have a filter? Yes baffled he swims all near it doesn't seem to bother him at all

What type of food do you feed your betta fish? right now only pellets omega one
How often do you feed your betta fish? 1-2 pellets twice daily

Maintenance
How often do you perform a water change? haven't gotten there yet he's new. will be twice weekly
What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? plan on 2 times 50% haven't gotten there yet
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? just water conditioner says it removes chlorine chloramines ammonia harmful stuff

How has your betta fish's appearance changed?

How old is your fish (approximately)? Brand new fish two days since he's been here. He looks younger than a year I have no clue best guess 5 months. Don't know his history. He came as the feistiest (word?) betta I've ever seen. He's calmed down some as far as his obsession with being aggressive to his reflection but lights on and off he's constantly moving/dancing alot. So about half the time he flares at himself fins and chasing (no gills all puffed out) and the other half he swims fast all over. Seems happy not afraid. The problem is he came with the tiny-est hole in his tail. Not a chunk or ragged like some tail biters look to be but a little hole in the middle. Now there is a bigger hole on the dorsal? top fin that wasn't there when I got him. Is he too aggressive? Too active? My fear is he" over stressed and flaring his fins out too big and they rip? I don't know at all? help

My fish has some holes too I've had him for a month now.
I'm not sure if hi are new or old I think they are new. He swims crazy the way you have described ur fish also I think that's why mine has tears.
Still trying to figure it all out myself

Yeah I know it is.
Everyone has told me they should heal on their own as long as the water is nice an clean. They gave me melafix at the petshop but everyone on here has recommended I don't use it so I havrnt

mr.excitement, has probably just flared too much and ripped his fins. mine had a few tiny holes when i got him.they heal up pretty fast.clean water and constant temp will help.keep an eye on him.if he becomes lethargic, he may have an infection. you may want to move him to a quieter more out of the way place,until he settles in and gets used to you and your house. if you want to medicate, aquarium salt is all i'd use at this point.i usually just give them a chance to heal on their own.

thankyou both for the input. He is in a quiet place no people much just me checking on him and feeding. I guess I'll give it time as you say and maybe do salt later if it gets worse or something
