Betta Food

Hi there! :) My baby Pascal has not eaten for a week and is seeming ill in general. I've got precautions coming in the mail to use Sunday.

One of the issue is he is extremely emaciated and won't eat - not even bloodworms! My LFS doesn't sell live food for bettas, and I just noticed today I apparently have WCM fry from the WCMs I returned when I got Pascal!

My question is: could I feed a fry to my betta to see if his appetite will become stimulated??

As long as the fry aren't sick and their parents weren't sick, you could try. Did you try the garlic juice technique? Fasting procedures?

Fasting - Don't feed him for 2-3 days and see if he will eat. If he doesn't, take the food out. Repeat until he will finally eat his food.
Garlic Juice - Fast him for 2-3 days. If he won't eat, coat the pellets with garlic juice and feed. The juices will enhance the taste and smell.

What brand is your food? I recommend New Life Spectrum and Omega One. They're the best brands locally. Other good brands are Golden Pearls and Attison's. Bad brands are Aqueon, Wardley's, Tetra, and Top Fin.

Oh sorry, I've already made 23473298472394 threads about the situation that I didn't feel to turn it into another one of those. I just wanted to know if it was okay to feed a betta WCM fry. Here is the Saga of Pascal if you are interested.

He just isn't interested in anything, no matter what I try. I use NLS pellets, frozen bloodworms.

I don't believe my WCMs were sick... one of the younger ones did go "missing" but my LFS said he probably died the others ate him. How do I tell if the fry are sick? They just swim around like normal.

So you tried the procedures I listed? I'm sorry, I'm pretty lazy today. I read your story, though. It's really heart-warming that you prepared so much for him. :') The tank is gorgeous. You can tell if the fry are sick if they have any visible problems or dart and rub against objects. Check their poo as well.

Yes I have tried everything. :) I've been working with this for a few days now. Thank you for the compliment! I'm hoping that I can eventually transfer Pascal back to the 5g if he fully recovers and remains peaceful.

I haven't been able to see their poop since it's so heavily planted and they are super tiny... but they basically behave just as I would expect baby fish to behave! I'll putting one in there Sunday once I have more time to be attentive. :)
