Got a baby betta from petco :) need some help

I just got a baby betta this monday from petco :) the little guy(girl, don't know yet) seems pretty energetic. I feed him/her about four pellets once a day (hikari micro pellets) and I put him/her in an one gallon tank with filter and a light hod. it has a live plant in the tank but doesn't seem really help...
my questions are: I also have topfin freeze dried blood worm, can I feed him/her that?(seems more healthy?) and how old is he/she? the room temp is around 73 (not sure. a little bit chilly with only t-shirt on), do I need a heater? most important... is this a betta fish? it seems kinda "not betta like"

I don't really know about the feeding part, but you defiantly need a heater. It should be around 76-82 degrees.

First and foremost, you need a heater ASAP. That is the number on reason why these babies die, they are tropical fish and need a much higher temp than 73!!! Freeze dried blood worms are not a good food. I could argue that they are never good, but I won't, but they are definitely not nutritious enough for a baby. The New Life Spectrum Small Fish Formula or live food would be ideal. Yes, it is a betta. Practically a fry really, but if cared for properly it will grow into a betta. What do you mean by the plant not helping?

cuz I bought the plant for it to hide, but my guy doesn't like the plant I guess? it always hide under the filter

Most adjustable heaters are good, a 25 or 50 watt Aqueon or Fluval would be fine. You want to keep the temp at 80 degrees. Babies need very frequent water changes, at least every other day if the tank is under 5 gallons. I second the suggestion for New Life Spectrum small fish formula.
