Just some clarification.

I picked up one of petco's 1 gallons (currently soaking everything)

(It's a temp home for my female until she's big enough to join the sorority)

What are the WC rules? I might not even bother filtering/using the air stone.

The water stone thing is totally unnecessary in a 1g. Hang on to it for future tanks or selling or keep the clear tube for a sponge filter (find a sticky on that).

For a 1 gallon you want to change it twice a week.

When I had my 1 gal I did 2 100% every week. But it get dirty every now and then to the point where 2 100% wouldn't get the job done. So every month I'd do one week where I'd go for 3 100%. It depends how much ammonia and junk gets accumulated...

Absolutely the same. You would need like 25 moss balls for them to make a difference lol

However, you can add java fern, anubias, marimo moss balls and a floater such as salvinia or frogbit and these might put a dent in cleaning (maybe knock it down to one 40% and one 100% a week)
