Duckweed+ Filter=O.O

So I put some duckweed into my ten gallon but now it's snowing duckweed constantly and gunking up my filter...starting to think duckweed shouldn't be in filtered tanks...

you can tie a string across the top and block the duckweed from the filter.

Mine has a waterfall effect so it blows the duckweed down under the water and sucks it up. I just removed all of it aside for a small portion that is floating on the other side of the tank sticking to the term. Hopefully it stays there because I would like SOME duckweed in there. Some that isn't getting blown all over the tank anyways.

I use duckweed in all of my spawning tanks with sponge filters. It does need pruned quite often, but I try to avoid it in my tanks with power filters. I have seen bettas actually eat duckweed as part of their balanced diet.

My duckweed certainly became one with the filter xD

Can it clog up a filter and cause damage to it?

This may sound odd, but I tried the string/air tube method to keep my floaters away from the filter, but it never worked due to evap and water level changes.. this is what I did:

Ya know them there betta logs they sell at petco/petsmart .. my betta liked his but for a short time (I have since switched to dwarf water lettuce) I tied my betta log to my Tetra 10i filter (my betta has 0 problems with it) with fishing line (through the top hole) and let the water pour into the hole at the top... INSTANT BAFFLE .. worked like a charm... too well... duckweed,... everywhere. I since scraped out all the duckweed and went with a larger floater and gave him back his log. Might be a cheap addition.

If you buy one, scrub it with a new toothbrush to get the dust off.. the paint on those aren't quality..
